About us

Build yourself. Build others.

B.Y. Foundation e.V. exists so a person’s circumstances do not decide the whole of their future.

Poverty should not decide a child's future.

The name follows a simple principle: build yourself, build others. Real change starts with people. When one person gains skill, health, or a fair chance at school, that strength can move through a family and into a community.

The foundation is a German registered association, an e.V., working with communities in Ghana, Bangladesh, South Africa, and with supporters in Japan and Germany. The work is practical: school materials, classrooms, meals, medical outreach, legal help, and skills that lead to a livelihood.

In the foundation’s own account, that support has included shoes, bags, wheelchairs, and school materials for more than 10,000 pupils and students. A district it serves has recognised the education work. Recognition from the Ghana Education Service

Our mission

To fight poverty by empowering women, advocating for people who are overlooked, opening education, and teaching practical skills that help young people start something of their own. Day to day, that means education, healthcare, nutrition, clean water, and community support that restores safety, dignity, and hope.

Our vision

A world where every person, regardless of background or circumstance, can discover their potential, live with dignity, and contribute to their community. Poverty should not decide a child’s future. Every child should be able to reach quality education and healthcare. Young people and vulnerable people should have the knowledge, skills, and resources to become self-reliant.

When we build individuals, we strengthen families. When we strengthen families, we transform communities. When communities are empowered, the future is more inclusive and more durable.

How we do it

A method, not a one-off gesture.

The foundation works in person, with partners, and for the longer piece of change, from the first conversation to the classroom, the clinic, and the livelihood that follows.

  1. 01

    Start where people are

We listen to families, schools, clinics, and local partners first. The work follows a real need in a real place, not a plan written far away.

  2. 02

Give what can be used now

Uniforms, books, meals, eye screening, medicine, and classrooms. Support is practical, visible, and meant to restore dignity the same day.

  3. 03

Work with partners, not around them

Schools, hospitals, the Ghana Education Service, the Gold Coast Organization, and volunteers across five countries carry the work with us.

  4. 04

    Stay for the longer piece

Emergency relief sits beside lasting work: a school block, a skill, a small business, and follow-through after the cameras leave.
